The first season of “Stranger Things” told the story of secret government experiments on children with supernatural abilities gone wrong, introducing us to Eleven, a girl who escaped in 1983 and is just the first layer of a story that goes back a long time. The Netflix series now presents its season 4 and in its 9 episodes it reveals much of what was hidden behind its mythology.
Eleven encountered a group of children looking for their friend Will, who had been taken to an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. Now, the timeline of events has returned to the 1950s, and Volume 2 has added new scenes explaining how, when, and why the monsters appeared in Hawkins. 1947: Henry Creel is born when his father, Victor, returns from fighting in the Second World War
Henry must have been born around 1947, a few years after the Second World War. Victor Creel was a soldier haunted by a bombing he ordered on a family's home somewhere in Europe.
1958: Victor Creel becomes obsessed with spiders and imagines the model of the mind flayer
Henry Creel's childhood is conditioned by his powers, he is rejected and forces his family to move to Hawkins, while he discovers his alter ego in spiders, since they prey on the weak. At some point draw a picture of a large spider.
1959: Twelve-year-old Henry Creel begins to use his powers and his mother calls Dr. Brenner
Henry had a number of superpowers, primarily telekinesis and the ability to implant visions, which were increasingly used for sadistic purposes, including torturing animals and his family members. His mother Virginia finally approaches Dr. Martin Brenner for help in his lab. nearby.

Dr. Brenner begins a series of experiments on Henry, with doctors trying to recreate his powers in other children. The experiment is successful, as children who develop powers have numbers tattooed on their wrists instead of names. As the initial test subject, Henry is renamed One (001) and, at one point, he is implanted with a device that reduces his abilities.
July 1969: 008 arrives at Hawkins' lab
Kali, also known as 008, arrives in Hawkins from London five years after being kidnapped, becoming the last girl in the experiment. After gaining his abilities, he would later escape before 1979 as he was not present at the Lab Massacre.
June 1970: Terry Ives gives birth to his daughter Jane
Terry Ives, believes she is participating in the CIA's illegal human experimentation program MKUltra, and gives birth to her daughter, Jane. They tell her that she had an abortion, but she suspects and discovers that her daughter is participating in the experiment. Going public with information about Dr. Brenner and the lab, Terry is captured and subjected to electroshock therapy, rendering her virtually immobile. His daughter would later develop telekinetic abilities and be renamed Eleven (011).
1978 – Sarah Hopper dies
Returning from Vietnam working with Agent Orange, Jim Hopper has a daughter, but he and his wife Diane are devastated when SAra dies of cancer aged seven due to genetic consequences, resulting in a rift in the marriage that they cannot mend. They later divorce and Jim returns to his native Hawkins, Indiana, becoming the police chief and a depressed heavy drinker. Diana later remarried.
September 8, 1979: Massacre at Hawkins National Laboratory
Henry works as a caretaker and befriends Eleven, helping her when the other kids bully her and teaching her how to focus her powers. Eleven uses her telekinesis to remove the chip on Henry's neck, and Henry immediately gruesomely murders almost everyone in sight, including the nurses, doctors, and a dozen other children used in the experiment. The two clash because she refuses to go with him and defeats him with her powers, but unknowingly creates a portal that sends him to the Upside Down.
1979: After the fight with Henry, Eleven loses her memory and how to summon all her powers
Eleven's massacre set back, shocking his system to the point of not remembering how to use his powers or anything about Henry. This is why Eleven's speech patterns changed from flashbacks of 1979 to the early 1980s. Her trauma was so intense that she even forgot how to form complex sentences.
1981: Eleven tries to get her powers back
Jane is now the only girl left in Hawkins' lab, and tests his powers on soda cans, a cat and in the Void, a mental space with which he can connect to distant places where he spies on a Russian man. Brenner gave up trying to replicate supernatural abilities on other children, making Eleven the only test subject in the lab, planning to use Eleven to spy on the Russians, but while in the Void, Eleven encountered a Demogorgon, one of the creatures that live in the Upside Down.
1982 – Lonnie and Joyce Byers separate
Lonnie and Joyce Byers file for divorce in 1982. Lonnie is an abusive father, forcing Jonathan to kill a rabbit on his tenth birthday and despises her youngest son, Will, for his 'less masculine' nature, which forms a close bond between the brothers, with Jonathan teaching Will's music such as "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" of The Clash and building the "Castle Byers" clubhouse in the woods near his home.
1983 – Eleven opens the door to the Upside Down and escapes
Dr. Brenner urges Eleven to "get in touch" with the Demogorgon, interested in her search for alternate dimensions to find Henry. When Eleven touches the Demogorgon inside the Void, she becomes so terrified that her powers overflow from her, and a door to the Inverted World opens inside the lab. Somewhere in the chaos of the door opening, Eleven escapes the lab through the drain pipe Henry had shown her years ago.
November 6, 1983: Will Byers is kidnapped in Hawkins, Indiana.
Will Byers, 11, is sucked into the Upside Down as he rides his bike home after a night playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends Dustin, Mike and Lucas. Pursued by a Demogorgon, his apparent kidnapping becomes a major concern for the region as a whole, and his mother Joyce enlists the help of Chief Jim Hopper, who is investigating Hawkins' lab and suspicious of what they are doing, discovering that Dr. Brenner was part of the MKUltra experiments.
November 1983: Eleven befriends Mike, Dustin and Lucas. Banishes the creature (and itself) to the Upside Down
Eleven encounters Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, who are looking for Will. Barb Holland is murdered while her friend Nancy Wheeler is having sex with her boyfriend Steve Harrington. The kids try to catch the Demogorgon at Hawkins High School by luring it out with the help of Eleven who manages to pin the Demogorgon to the wall and sends it back to the Upside Down., but when you do, it also disappears. Hopper and Joyce enter the Upside Down and rescue Will, who had been trapped there.
1984-undetermined: Henry Creel becomes Vecna in the Upside Down, creating the Mind Flayer
